Title 1

MESSAGE FROM THE PARENT LIAISON, SARA DUNKERTON

My name is Sara Dunkerton. I have been employed in the Mascoma School District since 1996. My experience in education is quite diverse, including a New Hampshire teaching certification for kindergarten through 8th grade, as well as a Master's Degree in Mathematics. I have served as the Program Director for the Early Childhood Program at Lebanon College, where I also taught as an adjunct faculty member. My experience as a tutor is immense, including my work in the following programs: Extended Year Program for Special Education, 1,2,3 Jumpstart Math Program, After School Alliance Program-NH PLUS TIME, Summer Sparks Program. In each of these programs I worked with a wide range of age groups from pre-school students up to high school age pupils. In addition, I was instrumental in creating an after school alternative education program working with students at Mascoma Valley Regional High School. In the summer of 2002-2003, I worked in the Jobs for New Hampshire Graduates program, a program designed to provide a jobs-based curriculum for students in grades 9-12. This program also included many community service projects and practical career-oriented field trips. In March of 2012, I started E2 Educational Service LLC. My tutoring agency provides tutoring services to children in grades k-12 and beyond. This wealth of experience is in addition to my full-time position as a fifth grade grade teacher at Indian River School, where I teach mathematics, social studies, language arts and reading.

What is a Parent Liaison?

A Parent Liaison is a person who works to bridge the possible communication gap between school and home by helping parents get the information, help and support they need to ensure their child's success.

How can the Parent Liaison help me?

Often, parents feel uncomfortable about sharing their questions or concerns with the teachers or school administration. Because communication between home and school is such a vital part of your child's academic success, the Parent Liaison will listen to your concerns and then work with you to make sure that your questions and concerns are expressed and understood. They will help and support you if you need to find ways to resolve any issues that may be hindering your child's success in school. Parent Liaisons want to be sure that you understand what you can do to get involved, keep you informed, share information and help your child succeed.
